Ecomaterialidades artísticas interespecies desde un enfoque biocéntrico

Abstract
Today, our planet faces critical challenges, plunging into an era of emergency. Ecosophy, a fusion of ecology and philosophy, emerges as a philosophy of life that pursues harmony between humans and nature. Contemporary authors have forged a conceptual and theoretical framework that shifts the traditional anthropocentric view towards a biocentric perspective.
In this context, art becomes an agent of change by exploring new materialities through interspecies co-creation. Artistic practice, conceived as research, highlights the pursuit of innovative eco-materialities.
Through the study of two artistic installations, the analysis examines how microalgae, particularly spirulina, act as remediating agents in the phycoremediation of polluted environments. Their biomass results in a palette of biomaterials, including bacterial cellulose, which feeds an installation-based materials library, thus revealing art’s potential as a catalyst for symbiosis between art, science and the environment.
This integrative artistic approach promotes awareness and action to sustainably address environmental challenges, generating a poetic and silent activism.
